Five years in the future...The west coast of the United States votes in favor of secession- a motion that came to be known as “The Separation.” In the ensuing chaos, a shadow government takes control, and democracy is suspended. Somewhere a man named Jeremy is held in a room by an anonymous woman who tortures him using a smartphone app. Jeremy supported the Separation, even after his family left him over it.
